Meet Glenda

I love communication. Not just talking. Listening, too. I guess that’s because, for me, life is all about relationships, and relationships start with communication.

I live in New Mexico, the land of coral sunrises and salmon sunsets. I love chasing dawn and dusk and watching waterfalls. And I’ll stop whatever I’m doing to sit on the porch and watch a rainstorm.

I usually start my day by soaking in the vista of the Sandia Mountains while sipping a homemade cappuccino. Listening. Reading. Communicating.

Throughout the day, you can find me working with words, advising students, practicing a presentation, or (my favorite) loving my family and friends.

Both of my extraordinary daughters and their equally incredible husbands live abroad, so I spend a lot time on Zoom, Skype, and Facetime. When I’m not talking to them, I’m talking to God about them. (I try not to be too bossy when I do that. As many great ideas as I think I have and as much as I’d like to be the ruler of the universe, I know I’m not. HE is. However, my husband might tell you I haven’t totally come to terms with not being the commander-in-chief.)

Like most “women of a certain age,” I try to accept and apply the lessons life teaches. I’ve had my share of seasons and struggles, but the good news is, life changes. We learn. We grow. And one thing I’ve discovered is that hard is not the same as bad.

Now I’m at the stage of life when I want to share my insights with others. I hope you’ll allow me to have that privilege. I’d love to get to know you.

In case you’re wondering where the propaganda about my professional experience, awards, and the stuff I’ve been working on for the last forty-plus years is—kudos like “she’s an award-winning author, speaker, and television director!” (yep, all true)—it’s here too. When you click on my links for education counselor, speaker, and author, you’ll find them. If I put all that info in one place, you’d accuse me of having multiple personalities, which I probably do.

To end this little blurb, here are a few fun facts about me:

1.     Glenda has visited all seven continents, over seventy-five countries, and all fifty states. (And she’s working on more.) Her favorite place isn’t a place at all; it was an experience—viewing the Aurora Borealis for over an hour and a half while she and her family celebrated outside a rural farmhouse in southern Iceland. What a gift! Words can’t describe the experience.

2.     Glenda wears a different Christmas outfit every day from Thanksgiving through Christmas.

3.     Glenda homeschooled her children from kindergarten through high school and lived to tell about it! (She also served as an adjunct professor at two universities and survived that too.)

4.     Glenda has been known to vacuum her yard, especially during cottonwood season.

5.     Glenda’s favorite word is together.
